Start with the visual requirement
Low-iron glass generally appears more neutral than conventional clear glass. The distinction can matter where glass edges are exposed or where a decorative layer should retain its intended colour. It is an appearance decision, not a guarantee that one material suits every project.
Compare like with like
Ask for samples at the proposed thickness. Place them against the intended background and review both the face and edge. A photograph taken under different lighting is a useful reference, but it cannot establish an acceptable colour match. If several finishes appear together, review them as a set.
Specify the finished assembly
The choice of base glass does not determine safety, acoustic or thermal performance. State whether the finished panel must be tempered, laminated, coated or incorporated in an insulating unit. Ask for performance data that corresponds to that construction, not a thinner unprocessed sample.
Prepare a useful enquiry
Send a panel schedule with thickness, dimensions, quantity and application. Mark any visible edges and provide the relevant visual reference. If transmission or colour is a contractual requirement, identify the acceptance value and measurement method so it can be reviewed before quotation.
General guidance, not a project design or a declaration of certified performance. Confirm the exact glass construction and documentation with the project team.
