Choose the Right Construction for Your Project
Thermal tempering changes the stress distribution within glass. It is selected where the design requires increased mechanical strength or a safety breakage pattern, but it does not keep a broken pane in place in the way a suitable laminated construction can.
What to confirm before ordering
- Complete the cutting, holes and edge details before tempering; changes after heat treatment normally require a replacement pane.
- Specify the support system, loading and applicable safety requirements rather than choosing thickness by appearance alone.
- Discuss visual acceptance criteria, including roller-wave distortion and the viewing conditions for large glazed areas.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can tempered glass be cut or drilled after manufacture?
No. Confirm the final drawing before heat treatment. Site adjustments to size or hole positions should not be planned after tempering.
Does tempering replace lamination?
No. Tempering and lamination address different requirements and can be combined. Where post-breakage retention matters, the complete glass and support assembly needs review.
What should I send for a quotation?
Send panel dimensions, thickness, quantity, edge finish, hole and cut-out drawings, intended application and destination.
