Choose the Right Construction for Your Project
An insulating glass unit combines panes around a sealed cavity. Its performance depends on the entire make-up: glass types, coatings, cavity, spacer and edge seals. An IGU is therefore a specified assembly, not just two sheets of glass.
What to confirm before ordering
- Provide the full outside-to-inside glass schedule, not only overall thickness.
- Agree whether performance figures refer to the glass centre or the complete window system.
- Check frame pocket dimensions, edge cover and sealant compatibility before ordering.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is every double-glazed unit Low-E?
No. Low-E describes a coating; double glazing describes an assembly. A Low-E pane can be included in an IGU where specified.
Can safety glass be incorporated?
Use the confirmed configurations listed on this page and provide the safety requirements for each pane. Suitability depends on the application.
Can one U-value describe every unit?
No. Request values for the actual proposed glass, cavity and coating configuration and identify the calculation or test method.
