Low-emissivity coatings manage radiative heat transfer. They are specified together with daylight, solar gain and appearance requirements. A low U-value and a low solar heat gain coefficient describe different aspects of performance and should not be used interchangeably.
What to confirm before ordering
- Share the target U-value, solar heat gain and visible light transmission for the intended assembly.
- Confirm coating surface position, heat-treatment requirements and handling instructions.
- Review a representative sample or mock-up where façade colour consistency is important.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Low-E the same as tinted glass?
No. Low-E is a coating characteristic; tint describes body colour. A design may combine both, but appearance alone does not establish thermal performance.
Which coating surface should face the cavity?
The correct position depends on the selected coating and assembly. It must be confirmed in the agreed glass schedule, not chosen on site.
Are all Low-E products suitable for tempering?
No. The particular coating must be compatible with the specified processing route. Send the coating requirement for review.
